Our Story

“I’m an enthusiastic stock market investor and I don’t like losing. Investors who allocate to long-only equity products are guaranteed to lose money when the stock market goes down. I built 3D Capital Management to change that.”

How It All Began

By Eric Dugan

Back in 2000, the Dot-com era wasn't the only thing that crashed. Being young and foolish, I ended up losing 50% of my net worth and a bit of my sanity.

But that was not all I lost...

Everything else suffered. My relationship with my wife ended. I lost the relationship with my stepchild. Every aspect of my life was affected. I vowed to never let it happen again to me or anyone else I could help.

My determination lead me to create an investment system designed to consistently profit and outperform the S&P 500 when it is down on the month.

In 2008, I was able to put the initial version of my system to the test. When the market crashed that year, I was prepared. The S&P 500 plummeted -38%. However, I was able to avert that loss and our long-only 3D Bull Program finished 2008 with a +3.3% annual return.

In May of 2010 I registered as a Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA) and formed 3D Capital Management.

Since then, 3D Capital Management has evolved and now offers multiple customizable solutions to help you invest in the S&P 500. Our global-macro S&P 500 systems track multiple time zones and asset classes 24/6. This daily global-macro and systematic approach uses markets like the Nikkei, Gold, Crude Oil, and US Bonds to helps us identify volatility, strength, and weakness in the S&P 500.

Thirty years in the investment industry have taught me that strategically shorting the market is the best way to diversify your equity portfolio, protect your historic stock market gains, and manage equity market risk.
